Can't make a saddle!

I don't have a saddle for Tara right now. That's okay since she's crazy and we don't ride yet I can't decide if I want to get an all purpose to start off, or a dressage saddle. Eventually I'll want a dressage and a jumping saddle, and since we probably won't be jumping for a long time, I feel like I should invest in a dressage saddle first. BUT if we end up jumping sooner than expected, I'd be out of luck.

I love love love Collegiate Senior Events (big plus that they're convertible), and if they made it in black, I'd have that as my only saddle for a long time. I just don't like havana for dressage logical reason behind it, I just don't

But I just can't make a decision...should I get a dressage saddle first? All purpose? Cheap all purpose until I can afford a nice one of each? Ah!! I'm the most indecisive person in the world.

He He He! I know the feeling. My suggestion is check Craigslist! I find great deals on there all the time. . . Maybe you'll find one of each for cheap. . .

No, don't get an all purpose, unless you find one with a forward flap to accomodate jumping. Most AP saddles flaps are too straight for jumping, and most aren't balanced right for dressage. If you're doing strictly flat work, start with a dressage saddle, and then add a jumping saddle when you're ready.

You just have to see your don't have to like it.

Don't go with the cheap one. You get what you pay for and it may very well be waste of money. I can't advise on either because I personally have A/P Collegiate and CC Pessoa. I used A/P for low jumping and it obviously worked (and my instructor said it looks OK) as well as it works fine for flat work, but generally I use my CC.

BTW, I do remember someone on this forum was selling Rembrandt dressage saddle for really good price. I tried this brand and it was very comfortable to sit in.
