Check out my awesome find!

Today is my lucky day! I got my greedy little hands on a saddle... for the big ol' price of FREE. It had been sitting in the barn for a while and when I asked my BO if it was for sale, he told me to 'just take it and use it'. Turns out, it was abandoned with two horses.

When I got it home, I measured it and found that it is the perfect size for me. Not only that, but it's a Pontillo (made in Argentina). Not only did I get a free saddle, but it's decent quality! It just needs some TLC, new leathers, a girth and some irons. Extra bonus - it was used on a horse with a very similar build to Vanna, so there's a good chance it'll fit her too!

More pictures, after being wiped down with hot water and vinegar to kill any mold. Saddle was also given a light coat of leather conditioner in hopes of softening it up.

I know it's not the best saddle brand, but I'm quite tickled that I have it. This means I can save up for that Stubben I've been drooling over.

I can't see the pictures as I'm at work but what a bonus!!

lol I love how everyone I meet is like Oh, I so want a stubben/kieffer etc... they're so cheap over here at the moment! I looked at a kieffer for 350, brand new the other day!

But just a little info, these saddles aren't really good quality at all. But a free saddle is a good saddle. Keep care of it, and it should last.

:) Probably better quality than the really cheap, synthetic saddle I was going to buy to use as a training tool for my girl. I'm hoping this one will hold up well enough until I get my girl trained undersaddle and can justify spending the money on a quality used Stubben. As long as it's comfortable and fits my girl well, I can't really complain too much.

DuffyDuck... wanna send one of those brand new Stubbens to Canada?

HAHA. At the exact moment that photo was taken, my little black dog (you can barely see him) was snarling at her and darting back and forth, nipping her feet. She was not a happy camper and about a minute after the photo was taken, took off after him and chased him into a wall. They have a dysfunctional relationship.
