Choosing tack for a new horse

So I bought a new horse a couple of days ago (Krammer- love him already). He is a 4 year old solid bred paint gelding. (I guess he can be double registered as a quarter horse but that is not the issue here )

The issue I have is I want to get him all new tack! The tack I have fits him well, but I don't like the way it looks on him and it is getting a little worn out. So I go to look for tack at a local supply store. I was so lost! There seem to be hundreds (if not more!) of color combinations. Do I get a lighter color saddle and bridle or darker? What about a halter, saddle pad, leg wraps? I walked out of that place so confused and no closer to getting new tack. So my question for all of you is what color combinations would look best on my new horse?

What colors do you personally like? Those are the colors I would (and did) choose for my horse.

I would have to say black...black saddle, black headstall, black reins. From there, I would pick a color that you like for things such as the saddle pad, boots, halter, etc. If I had a chestnut I would say maybe blue??

I have always liked purple. Blue would be nice. I would try to get a color that is abundant. Not something like orange which is harder to find.

I don't think that would be copying. Use what you like and have fun with it!

Such a personal thing! I mix purple and black together - which sounds like it would be horrible but is in fact lovely ;)
