Cleaning Saddle Pads

Okay so eventually I will have to purchase my own saddle pad for Duchess but I HATE dirty pads. It really makes my eye twitch. How do you clean a saddle pad and how often would be safe to do it?

Are Saddle Pads The Same As Numnahs? The Blanket That GOes Under The saddle?
If It Is I Throw Mine In The Washing Machiene And I Wash It Whenever It Gets Dirty So About ONce A Week.
Before You Put It In The Washing Machiene Get A Curry Comb And Get Rid Of All The Hair If There Is Any Stuck In The Lining Of It So It Wont Clog Up The Machiene
