Corriente Saddles?

Hi all!

Who out there has a Corriente Saddle (Anthony, New Mexico) and are you happy with it? If not, why not? If so, what do you really like about it?

Smrobs, if you read this, I know you got one a while back. How's it working out for you and your horses?

I am not a wealthy person and can't afford a really top saddle, however, I do not want to waste money on junk either because I am rather choosy and will not be happy with something junky. I really don't like most used saddles for the same reason- I take care of my stuff and I don't want to buy someone else's neglected/abused tack. I would rather spend money on a new one and baby it.

In other words, I have caviar taste with a beer budget. I have been thinking of getting a Corriente, but before I contact the company and get serious, I want to do some research first.

My last two saddles came from Rider's Choice on eBay. Their top-of-the line versions (which are about the same price range and the Corrientes I believe). The first one I LOVED, and still love. I loved it so much I ordered another one just like it. The second one looks like it was put together by an amateur and it doesn't even fit my horses the same. Ugh!

I would like to sell a couple of the saddles that I really don't use and get a nice one in the $1000 (or less price) range.

What do you think?

PS. I am pretty sure I want a Wade tree.

Everyone who posted about them here was happy with Corriente. smrobs, iride, and I can think of another 1-2 people.

Thank you!

That's what I thought the general consensus was. But then, I start reading around the internet and found a person or two who had trouble with the trees. I don't rope or anything, I just want a good trail saddle. But I want something I won't be disappointed with.

One of our local saddle makers here highly recommends them as a great value for the money.

I am still loving mine and I likely will continue to go with Corriente for my future saddle needs as well until the time comes when I need a draft saddle, which they don't make.

I have noticed a couple of aesthetic things about mine that show it was not an overly expensive saddle, but nothing that compromises it's comfort or functionality.

I rode mine for ~ a year then sold it for what I paid for it. The reason I sold it had nothing to do with the quality or comfort of the saddle but it didn't fit the new horse I had just gotten.

For the money it's a pretty good deal.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just explaining why I'm right.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

It's not always what you say but what they hear.
