Angry Cultured Cowboy...

I was planning on getting this saddle (Reinsman Reining Saddles - 4764 - Safety, Comfort and Performance for rider and horse.) for my birthday, along with a matching headstall, reins, and breast collar.... BUT I just had a bad experience ordering saddle pads from the company so I'd like to know if this has happened to anyone else before I decide if I still want the saddle.

I ordered two Reinsman pads on May 30th. My pads just arrived today... over 5 weeks later - and during that time I sent them two emails asking when they would arrive. They sent me very unhelpful and uninformative emails back.

Now, that alone makes me think twice about ordering a saddle from them. But there's more...

I wanted this color:

And got this:

And I wanted this color:

And got this:

The item numbers match up. The patterns and shapes are the same. Nobody made a mistake and sent me the wrong color. They're trying to pass those colors off as the ones listed online! It's as if somebody edited the contrast and saturation before posting the photos online.

I really don't like these colors and I'm not going to order a different color from the huge assortment on their website after this.

I'm really, really annoyed. I spent a long time looking at different pads before I decided on these, and then I waited over five weeks for them to arrive! Now I'm going to have to pick an entirely new pad from a different company and wait for that to arrive. Grrrr!

Wow, I would be mad too. At first glance they don't look anything like what is advertised. I have always just gotten the more el-cheapo items. I don't think I have ever spent more than $50 on a pad, and been happy with what I get. I would be a little bit leary about getting a saddle from them as well but if you like it and it has the specs that you need, then it is all up to whether you want to deal with them again or not.

The pads retail at $70 and they're selling them for $50.99. I really like the saddle, I like that it's 100% customizable, and I like that they let you put half down and pay the rest as they're making it. I don't know, though : /

Holy cow. With the reinsman logo, I figured they would be $100+. I guess the big question with the saddle is whether or not you can go to another company, get the same quality and look, and all for a competative price.

Yeah... I didn't look around that much, but I didn't see any others that could be custom made. Oh well... it's not the only saddle in the world.

Cultured Cowboy is only ~an hour from me and I've bought a few things from Chuck over the years, including a Dakota saddle. He can be a little funny to deal with but I never found him to be dishonest.

I think that many times, when you see a pad on a site then order it, it may have been changed by the mfg to some degree but retain the model numbers.

Not to minimize your being upset over it, but the way I look at it is that 80 to 90% of the pad is under the saddle anyway.

When I wanted a new saddle custom made this past spring, I went to SouthernTrailsGA (a member here) and was very well satisfied. (It's the one in my avatar). Kevin has a lot of different saddles in all price ranges.

ANNOYING!!!!
That has happened with me before when I online shopped for clothes. The pads look good quality though. I'm like smrobs though when I buy my saddle pads. I look for the lowest price. Its probably better to get good quality pads but I beat mine up pretty bad and when mine get too dirty and grimey I bring then to the car wash and hose them down. Probably not the best for me to do but I think it works...
Unless you really reeaaaaallllly don't like the colors, I would keep them because returning and ordering new stuff like that adds up to big bucks in shipping.

I just bought and ordered a Reinsman pad from a company on last wednesday, it arrived today. Would have gotten here yesterday, but the holiday messed it up.
I paid $68 for the pad and $5 shipping.

Try ordering from horse.com, jeffersequine.com, or chicksaddlery.com. They're always great with my orders, and my stuff from jeffers comes within two or three days.

Actually, it's pretty common: the pic usually looks way better then what you get. :) One of the reasons I prefer to buy everything "in person" so I can feel and see it. Although I don't care for colors much, but for the quality.

The only thing I can say I have Reinsman pad (much worse color than yours - there were no choices to choose from here in local TSC), and it's a very nice pad for the price.
