Dakota Saddles?

I'm looking at getting a used Dakota saddle for my short backed stocky QH gelding. It is the 315 model in FQHB (7" gullet). It was bought new in March so it's less than a year old in excellent condition. I'd like to know if anyone has experience with newer dakota saddles as I've heard that their quality has decreased over the last couple of years. Does anyone have pictures of their Dakota saddles on their horses? How do they fit? I've heard that pinching is common in the newer models? Anyone have any feedback? It would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

.

Dakota has used the Same brand of Tree for as long as I can remember, so fit should be the same as always. They have always used the Same Brand of Leather too. I have seen no change in quality.

For the price, they are hard to beat, they are moderate priced, good basic Saddles, I have dozen of them used and dozens of them new.

Ok so I just bought that saddle off of Ebay for $325. I'm really hoping it fits my horse. Expect pictures and questions on saddle fit once I get it. My husband will probably kill me if it doesn't fit. I've bought 3 other saddles and had to resell them because they didn't fit :-/ I wonder why I've been hearing so much about the decline of Dakota saddles if everything is the same? The saddle looks like excellent quality for the price. I'm pretty excited

Dakota uses Steele Saddle Tree frames, as do many other companies. Steele has 8 basic trees. Sometimes you can figure out what size tree will work for your horse. If not, then they have a program that makes it obvious:

Steele Saddle Tree LLC - Fit To The Horse

I've thought about trying it just so I would have a common frame of reference that I could use.

I own a Dakota barrel racer. Super nice saddle for the money.

I know of a Barrel Racing Club that has over 20 members have Dakota Saddles, you won't be upset about quality, especially for 325.00
