Different colored leather. Do judges frown upon it?

So my headstall and saddle aren't the same color. Do judges frown upon that or does it matter??

Are they close? If you have a light oil headstall and a dark oil saddle (or vice versa), then yes, it'll be frowned upon. If it's close, it won't be as big of a deal. But this is only at local schooling level shows.

If it's a smaller show, then no, not usually. If it's a larger show and the competition is close, it could detract from you.

I agree. My breast collar and headstall aren't the exact same collar as my saddle, but their close. From the distance the judges are at, they won't notice a slight difference. You could also (maybe) get away with a black saddle and very dark brown headstall or vice versa. If your headstall has silver on it, don't worry, it's not as noticeable, especially the delicate, thin headstalls.

Also, the hair on breast collar and headstalls don't show enough of the leather for anyone to worry about if the leather does not match their saddle
Sorry I rambled. Hope this helps! Happy Showing!

Unless all your tack is all the same brand, it is doubtful that your tack will match 100%.

Close, as in within a few shades, shouldn't be a big deal. Light/dark bridle, dark/light saddle...it could knock you down a few at a rated type show. At a schooling show, it most likely wouldn't matter.

The school horse I ride has a dressage type bridle, but is a hunter horse. It was most likely the only one around that would fit his big head. I used it until I got my own bridle for him, and the school kids still use it on him. I did well enough still in schooling shows, placing on him.
