My trainer has three identical signs posted in various places up her driveway, on every stall door, and at the entrances to arenas. They all say the same thing -

"If you're not wearing a helmet I'm not coming to your funeral!"

That's the blunt way of putting it I suppose.

Helmets are so incredibly important especially for children, I wish everyone could see that *sigh*

While I must admit all english riders I've seen around DO wear helmets most trail riding and "western" folks/kids don't. And while it's up to the adult to wear one, I just don't get why to put a kid in a danger just because you are too greedy to get one or because kid "looks cool" without the one, OR because you are one ignorant person.

I was that western trail riding helmetless kid... reason being? Not really sure. As a kid I always just thought helmets were 'an English thing'. To this day my family doesn't understand why I insist that any kids that want to ride must wear a helmet. It doesn't matter which horse or pony is being ridden and it doesn't matter if an adult si riding with them and it doesn't matter if someone is leading the horse!

I wear a helmet, I love my helmet and think it looks good on me... Haha so if you buy your kid a nice pretty/ fancy helmet, they just might love wearing it.

I hate hearing about accidents that could have been prevented by simple things like helmets.

I always wear a helmet because the day or short ride that I don't will be the day I needed it. Therefore, yes, my kids ALWAYS wear helmets when they ride - even though they each only ride a total of maybe twice a year, I did purchase a childsize helmet just for them.

Agreed: Helmets are an absolute necessity.

Not only that, but a horse that is going to be safe! Their horse is gorgeous, but he looked like a hot head! He was pawing, tense, uncomfortable. Why would you let your kid sit on a huge hot horse?
