Do you ride with a halfpad/numnah?
I have a wool half pad that I used to ride with until I got my wintec and someone told me its too bulky and take it off.
Do you recommend riding in one?
I've seen a lot of pictures here and most people seem to have them.

I always ride with a half pad. I either use a thinline half pad or a wither relief half pad.

It depends on how well your saddle fits. If your saddle just barely fits (almost too narrow), then yes, a thick wool half pad would be too much and would likely change your saddle fit. However, if your saddle is a good fit or slightly wide fit without any saddle pad, then adding a half pad should be fine.

My daughter rides with a ThineLine half pad and I usually use a ThinLine contour pad or a Skito Equalizer pad, depending on which saddle I use.

I agree with above, if it just barley fits, then no a thin quilted one would be better, however if you are schooling in say a fancy sheepskin half pad I would reccomend putting a baby pad underneath to keep the sheepskin in good condition.

I always ride with a half pad - I use a regular square pad, then the half pad and then saddle!!! Yes, it is true that the extra bulk of any large pad will change the fit of your saddle, however that is not an issue for me. I got my saddle fitted with the extra padding, so it fits just fine. I use the Mattes half pad, I have 2 of these that way I always have one available for when the other is being washed. The Mattes are pretty expensive, but I love these and would never use any other half pad.

It really depends on the horse you are riding and the fit of the saddle to that specific horse. I own one for showing and every day riding but I have yet to see what Cobalt is going to need for pad.
I rode a horse earlier this week that was better off with one without a regular saddle pad where as my saddle fit another horse with
Just a plain saddle pad and no half pad.
All depends on the horse and saddle fit :)
