Do YOU wear a helmet?

It is a personal choice for me and I choose not to wear one.

Yes I wear a helmet. Every ride, every time.

I guess I just don't understand why these threads keep popping up Why does it matter what other adults do or don't do with their heads when you have no connection to them?
Just comes off as odd.

Blame my parents! I've fallen down enough stairs and landed on my head as a toddler to wonder why bother Kidding, kidding... cept the falling down the stairs part a lot :P

Sometimes I wear one, sometimes I don't. I know people on both sides, and "my" children always wear one.

I always, without fail, wear a riding hat (helmet) you only have one head and one life and the head is far too easily damaged.

Last time I got bucked off I landed on my head on a gravel rode (from a canter), I think I got a mild concussion (didn't go to a doctor... not very smart here). So I bought a helmet to start wearing when I start riding again (I rode after that, just moved and haven't been able to ride for the past half a year). I've fallen or been bucked off so many times in the 10 years that I've had horses that I can't count them. I always wondered about helmets (and my family always talked them down), but after that time I decided to just go ahead with it.

Why ? It's just a question like any other question. ... I don't think the person that asked cares if you wear a helmet, she just asked who does.

I wear a helmet every time. Being in the medical field I see first had how head trauma affects families. Though I ride with some who don't wear helmets, it's their choice I don't preach..... but I do get upset when I see kids ride without helmets

But when the SAME topic comes up over and over, I just start to wonder why... why is it such a big deal to show off what you do either way? It's a choice like anything else, and if you are an adult I could care less how much you care about protecting your noggin Oh well, scurrying off now, just depositing my two cents in the jar.

It's like Pattilou says. Children read these posts and ought to be encouraged to wear helmets. Anyone who rides without is an idiot, IMO.

Having always worn a hat - for 50 years, now :( - I've no doubt I would have suffered at least one serious head injury without (fall of horse and rider on the road requiring new helmet). I'd encourage every rider to wear one.

If you think how easy it is to have an accident around horses - they're so common we probably don't even relate to them as 'accidents' - and how unpredictably they happen, I don't know how anyone can believe they won't fall on their head at some point.

Riding without a helmet simply isn't worth the risk :)
