Do you think they would offer good protection while jumping?

I have 2 pairs of those for my guy. They are very easy to put on, but the fleece gets really dirty really fast. They also hold water on XC...

I used mine for lessons for about 3 years, I felt they protected my guy very well. If your horse tends to be loose in his knees they might not be a good choice, they are thick - so if he knocks a rail he won't feel it as much. For careful jumpers - they are excellent.

And they are machine washable!!!

I am going to start some jumping with Cisco, nothing serious. I just want to offer him some protection.. I decided to go ahead and buy a pair of Roma Open Fronts, but after doing some more reading I found out they don't offer much protection unless your horse over reaches( and my boy doesn't), they may be returned once they finally get here...so the quest to find boots is on again.

I have jumped him over a few small cross rails and he did hit the rail a few times, so maybe it's best to leave him bare-legged until he gets a bit more careful....or maybe the dover boots are the way to go... ( are they like splint boots just fleecy?)

Yea they are kinda like splint boots, more like brushing boots though. They have the 2 straps and they just fasten straight back on the outside of the leg.

If he knocked poles then open fronts might be the way to go, they help to protect the tendon. Yes, they are good for horses that over reach because of the hard plastic shell, but my guy doesn't over reach and I still love mine. These allow them to feel the pole when they touch it so they will pick their legs up higher, while still offering protection to the back of the leg. And trust me a horse that hangs it legs over higher jumps is not a pretty situation to be in and can be quite dangerous (not that I know or anything... ;) )
