Dressage girth size... HELP

I've recently gotten a treeless dressage saddle that will allow me to use it on varying horses and I need to get a girth that will fit as well as possible going from horse to horse. Is there sort of a "standard" size that will usually work for your average 15-16 hand horse? In my particular case, mostly TBs.

A 28" perhaps? More? Less?

What size girth do you use on your horse and what breed/height?

I use a 28 (its a bit short though....need a new one) on my mare and she is a Hanov/Tb. I used to use the same girth on my first horse, who is a thoroughbred gelding, it fit him really well.

If there are no horses in heaven... im not going.

I use a 24" girth on my 16.1hh (fatty) solid-bred paint. It's the girth that came with the saddle when I purchased it used, so the gal who owned it before me also used it, and she also had a stocky horse. I do think my saddle has extra-long billets, though. The general formula is to subract 20" from your long-girth measurement, assuming the longer girth fits your horse well. I would find out what the "average" measurement of a girth that most horses you'll be riding use, and go with subtracting 20" from that. One of my friends says my horse could pass as Irish Sport Horse, so if that helps any... =]

I go with 48 on A/P saddle and was told I have to use 28 (-20) on dressage one. However I'd think it should also depends on size of the billets.

My old gelding was a 15.3hh TB and he wore at 31". My current gelding, a 16hh TB wear a 50" regular girth, so that would be a 30" dressage girth.
