Endurance/trail saddle pads - which ones do you love and hate?
This is a discussion on Endurance/trail saddle pads - which ones do you love and hate? within the Horse Tack and Equipment forums, part of the Horse Tack category
I have a Skito pad and absolutely Love it!!! I Don't believe I will ever buy a different pad. They are custom made for your saddle, and you and your horse. Not to mention Tom is extremely easy to work with!!
I don't believe those foams, gels, and other things do much but take your money. There isnt much a pad can do that wool or wool fleece can't so. Getting a saddle that fits is more important.
At the endurance events I have seen plain wool fleece, or tucker coolback type fleece seems to be the most common. They wouldnt be if they didnt work. I use a Tucker Southwest topped fleece pad. I'd use the wool felt style if the made one that fit my saddle. The tucker coolbacks, woolbacks, and southwest topped are good pads and all $100 or less.
I have the Barefoot saddle and love it. I bought the saddle pad that they used to recommend/sell on the website with the saddle. I have heard alot of good things about the coolback and woolback pads. Will probably invest in one or two so I have extra to switch out when they get wet.
