What is your favorite type of bit? Jerry goes in a single jointed full cheek snaffle right now, and he seems to do pretty well in it, but I wanted to know what your horses go in, and how the bit works.

Also, feel free to discuss any other tack favorites of yours (saddles, bridles, saddle pads, boots...)

And post pictures if you want!

Basic loose ring or Dee ring snaffles are my favs. As for brands, I'm ariat all the way :) and my latest obsession, my trainers neidersues (sp?) dressage saddle. It's heavenly :p

I ride in a racing dee snaffle and I love it.
For fave tack brands, I like HDR (the Rivella or Deauville line), Herm Sprenger, Rambo blankets, Walsh halters, Ogilvy & Cottage Craft half pads.
For clothes I like Tailored Sportsman breeches, Ariat tall boots, Barnstable full chaps, Dublin paddock boots, Grand Prix stuff, Charles Owen helmets, and I get my show shirts custom made.

Every cent I make goes back into my horse :(

I am a snaffle lover, anything that is soft on the horse and effective. I just got a new bit for one of my horses and I LOVE it! It is a thick rubber eggbutt snaffle that is peppermint flavoured (the rubber is pink, bit girly but kind of cute). I have never seen this horse work with such a soft foamy mouth, very happy indeed.

My paint goes in loose rings lorentzo with copper, qh - eggbutt lorentzo with copper. I tried lots of bits and those seem to work the best (it was really tough to find one good size and feeling for my qh, she's not very standard). I also like Woof boots on them over other brands.

Snaffles of all sorts. I don't have a real favorite bit myself, my favorite bit is always the bit that the horse I am riding responds to best. For my previous horse, it was a plain, jointed loose ring snaffle. For my current pony, it's a french link eggbutt snaffle.

But, typically, I like snaffles - I strongly believe in 'less is more'. If I can maintain control with less artillery in the mouth, I am all for it!

My very most favorite bit is a loose ring french snaffle. Its effective but not very harsh. :) I also like how the loose ring gives a delay time before all the pressure on the rein reaches the mouth.

Edit: I didn't see that we could talk about more than bits. As for bridles, I really like the brand Bobby's English Tack my bridle was fairly inexpensive and has been really, really great.
For my Dressage saddle I have 1998-2004 Wintec Dressage Pro. Its been really great and very comfortable

^ Black Country all the way! Awesome saddles! Stubbens and Devacouxs are REALLY nice too! But I'm not trading in my BC any time soon!

As for bits, whatever works for the horse. Blue is a little hard mouthed, so she jumps in a slow twist full cheek snaffle and goes flatwork in a full cheek happymouth but that is soon going to be changed into a regular metal bit. She goes alot rounder and nicer with the metal bit.

Favorite bridles: Bobby's tack. The leather is so amazing! I also have an old bridle that's Blue's and its soooo nice, I have no clue what brand it is though. I also have a Horsewear Ireland bridle and don't like it so much :/

Favorite Helmet Brands: Troxel and Charels Owen!

Favorite Gloves: SSG's are the best bar none.

Favorite brand in general? Kerrits clothes. They are all so well made and comfy! I also ADORE Jules clothing. It all fits me so well!

My favorite boot brand is Ariats! I love everything Ariat makes but their breeches are restricting to me.

Bits alternate along with the horses I ride. For my pony, I usually keep her in a dee ring copper linked bit, but I really can't tell the difference in bits anymore on her considering how long I've been riding her. For my dressage horse, an eggbut snaffle usually does the trick. When I'm riding him in his double bridle, I use a Herm Sprenger pelham and I'm in love with it! My Big Eq horse usually rides in a dee ring corkscrew or slow twist. I know that these bits can be pretty severe, but when I'm trying to focus on my position and his movement, I can use all the help I can get. He does happen to be a million times more responsive in a corkscrew over a snaffle. When I ride him in a double hunter bridle (with curb reins and stuff), I usually use a happy-mouth pelham along with a normal snaffle and it's great!

My favorite brands of saddles are Antares and Tad Coffin by far. I also like the Voltaire design saddles, although I don't currently own one.

As for helmets, I swear by my GPA Speed Air. Its also one of the only things that will fit my very round head haha.

Gloves, Roeckl all the way. I'm so dead serious when I say I've tried everything out there, and Roeckl is by far the best. I have a whole bin filled with different brands of gloves, and my Roeckls are the only ones I wear. My friends call me "The Glove Queen."

Breeches: FITS All Season full seat. Nothing even compares.

Boots: For everyday riding, I love my Ariat boots. But for special occasions, my Vogels or Parlantis are the bomb.com.

Clothing: For shows, I love the Essex Classic shirts with the ventilated arms. Overall, my total craze is Equiline (obsessed with some of the few jackets I have) or Ariat.
