English saddle buying...

Is this a good English saddle? I know it's really cheap, but I can't afford a Pessoa or anything like that.

That's the link. Tell me what you think about it. (I'm getting the brown one if it's good.)

Don't bother. Save some money and get a used saddle.

Couldn't agree more! Those saddles are so cheap they aren't comfortable for you or the horse, they don't put you in a good position, and the cheap color on the leather flakes off. Save your money and buy a decent used saddle.

I find it odd that it states a seat size but not gullet.

I personally wouldn't go for that saddle, in the long run you would end up spending way more putting right what the saddle had done wrong, if that makes sense.
If you don't want to spend too much, I would buy a wintec with cair and changeable gullet system. That way you can make sure that both you and your horse are comfortable as you can change the gullet/width very easily.

Yeah, I thought it looked a little cheap.

Personally, I hate wintecs. I hate the material. They also wear out easily.

What about this one? I would try to find something on ebay, but i'm scared to do that.

I do like the looks of the second one better! Do you know where it's made? Often the cheaper saddles that fall apart are made in India. It's hard to really give an opinion without being able to look at it, sit in it, and see you sitting in it. (different saddles fit people differently!)

While I'm not stuck on brand names (I had an unknown brand saddle for 12 years that's significantly more comfortable then my friend's $4000 Butet and amazingly better quality as well) a lot of people can vouch for the quality/comfort of certain known brands. I tend to stick to recommending those to people! Yes, Ebay can be scary, but I bought an Antares and a Delgrange (both high end saddles) off Ebay and had great experiences both times. Do you have a tack shop nearby that sells consignment saddles?

The tack/feed store only sells western. There was a state line tack in our petsmart, but they closed it. I'm going to look on ebay to see if there's anything I like. I'll try to find out where the saddle was made.

I'll post links of other saddles that I like.

The first one you posted wasnt a wintec. If you were to go with a wintec you would be better off than with the first saddle you sent a link for.

Oh I know. Someone suggested getting a wintec, and I was just saying that I hated wintecs. They're too much money for what you get. But i'm also a cheapie at this point in time, so...

Save your money up for something better. Used isn't bad, either! Just make sure if you're buying a used saddle make sure you look at it.
Also, I just want to put out that I got my very nice HDR (brand new) from Ebay for only $450. Cheap compared to $1,000! I love it to pieces - I use it on (almost) every horse I ride. Also, it's very comfortable for myself, too. Look on ebay. If you find something you like, post it here on the forum. People here are very helpful.
