English Show Bridle Accessory Question

Hope this is in the appropriate forum!

I'm extremely new to showing and so there isn't much I know about what is and isn't allowed in the show ring.

In looking into shopping for Christmas presents for my trainer who has recently started showing his three year old (in hunter/jumper classes) I was thinking I'd like to get him a custom engraved plate with his horse's name on it. But I didn't know if it was something allowed on show bridles so I was also debating just buying him a brand new, spiffy leather halter to go with it instead of just buying him the plate for his existing bridle.

I think the halter would be a more complete gift but I know some people can be sort of funny when it comes to buying things for their own horses.

Opinions? I want to get him something personalized because he loves his horse to death and he has a lovely saddle pad with his name embroidered on it so I thought the neat little plate would go nicely (but obviously if it's not show-sanctioned I wouldn't want to hand him a useless bit of metal).

I'm even open to other ideas for personalized items. The nameplates just happen to be staring me in the face everytime I walk in the feed store. XD

Thanks!

Hello Sairys!

Most shows and groups do not allow name plates on bridles. I would check on their individual web sites before getting this type of gift.
I like your leather halter idea! Everyone needs halters would be nice if he had one to take to the shows for his horse to wear.
Another idea maybe a personalized picture frame or photo book, even maybe a pretty name plate for the horse's stall or his tack area.

You have a lucky trainer to have such a nice student as yourself!
Good Luck shopping!

Hunter/Jumpers are allowed to have name plates on bridles. You get a small one that goes on the crown of the bridle. Its a classic look that never goes out of style. A lot of people even at The Royal have little name plates on the crown of their bridle :) Always go with gold though, much more of a polished look.
