Talking English Tall Boots and Show Jacket?? Clueless... Help Please

There is a possibility I might be going to a community college and riding hunt seat on the equestrian team. I've only road english a couple times but I think it will be an easy transition for me with everything I learned at meredith manor and the western being dressage based. I think it will be easier for me because I like doing rising trot SO much better than I do sitting. BLEH! I have a very slight curve in my spine and the sitting trot seems like it just kills my back. Hate it. Im slim and tall. 5'8" and my legs are unruly long Seriously not kidding my legs are bean poles. Haha Anyways I'll get to the point.

For show I need tall boots, show shirt, a show jacket and helmet.... Tall boots im kinda clueless. I have paddock boots and half chaps but I guess we can't show in those. I've looked a little on dover. Do I need whats called a field boot? Or something else? Also what is a quality tall boot? Preferably $250 and under...

As for jackets Im even more clueless.... We do hunt seat and equitation over fences.... Also my arms are EXTREMELY long... So Im scared I wont find one to fit my arms and my skinny body....

Um I have a Tipperary 8500 helmet. Would I be able to find an all velvet black cover to put over that and still wear it or should I buy a new one?

Sorry for the essay.....
Thanks!

How exciting!

For Tall Boots - I love Mountain Horse very much! My favorite of all, are the Mountain Horse Richmond Field Boot *drool*

How gorgeous are those! But they are closer to $300 for a pair. I also like their Venice Field Boot....very nice as well:

These are close to $200 a pair.

~~~`
Jackets - I don't do Hunt Coats......Grey, Brown etc, etc.......but you know who can help you - Upnover. She's a Guru with this stuff!
Thank you! Maybe she will reply on this.... Do you have a specific place you like to order your boots? Or do you just get them from a local tack shop?
Unfortunately I really like the top pair you suggested but on dover they don't come in a slim calf which is what I defiantly need.
I get mine from a specific tack shop
www.classicsaddlery.com
She is not that far from me, and her tack store is quite popular in the area. Very reasonable prices as well. You can call her directly as well and she will help you out as best as she can.
She will also give you great advice about coats too! All I did was walk in her store, and I told her what I needed, and voila.....she handed me a coat off the rack, I tried it on - and that jacket has been with me for a few years now.
Mine is plain and simple...nothing fancy...
But I Event - I don't do Hunters......so I am really no help at all with Jackets....I don't know if the styles are different, but I do know the colors are. In Hunters I usually see Grey's, and Browns and cute colors - in Eventing you see a lot of Black, Dark Blue...........Dark Colors.
You're best off having a Hunter give you advice in that department...
You can always buy your jacket a bit large, and have it tailored to fit your body. Plus it is more "custom fit" by doing it that way. Navy blue and black are always a good safe bet, as they seem to stay in style. They do come with light pinstriping and plaids in them, so it isnt just plain and boring. (My navy jackey has purple plaid!)
I am not so up on the tall boots though. I also have field boots, but they are from Ariat. It would be best if you can get into a store to try boots on so that you can try on a bunch of pairs to see what fits you comfortably. However, you can order boots with specific measurements from certain places....that I have no clue of as I am in Canada....LOL.
Look and see if you can find a velvet cover for a Tipperary helmet. They seem to be shaped just slightly different then other helmets, so if it was the same brand, it might fit and look just as nice as another helmet.
Dover Saddlery is a great site! They will have EVERYTHING you need.
Boots: Ariats and Mountain Horse will be your best choice!
Dover Saddlery | Mountain Horse® Venice Zip Field Boot .
Dover Saddlery | Ladies' Ariat® Heritage Select Zip Field Boot .
Dover Saddlery | Mountain Horse® Firenze Zip Dress Boot .
Show Coat: A dark color will be best. I would go for some kind of navy.
Dover Saddlery | Wellington Collection Show Coat .
Tailored Sportsman Show Coat - Dover Saddlery.
Dover Saddlery | Ladies' Devon-Aire® USPC Concour Elite Show Coat.
Since you said you have long arms you will probably need a Long. None of those come in long though.. I will look around at some other sides for ones that come in long. But those give you an idea of what to look for
Show shirt:
Dover Saddlery | Tuff Rider Elegant Show Shirt .
Dover Saddlery | R.J. Classics Ladies' Tattersall Shirt.
Helmet:
Dover Saddlery | IRH® Olympian Riding Helmet .
Becuase of the tipperary's small "brim", unless tipperary makes a special velvet cover for it, which I doubt, you will need to get a velvet helmet. You could probably find some of this stuff used too. Do any of your tack stores have a consignment section? I have 2 extra helmets I may be selling if you are interested. I have some old hunter show coats (I do eventing now) as well but due to your long arms they probably wouldnt fit you!
So hunt coats are usually grey or brown? What about green? I seen a nice looking green one on a website somewhere. Thanks for all the advice! Anyone do hunters and can steer me towards the right jacket? Any more on boots?
Equineeventer: I hate the color navy.... I don't know why... Just not my color. So I will be staying away from that. Thanks for all the links!
OH whats the difference in a field boot and a dress boot?
Smartpakequine is another great site! So if you want to get all from same place:
ELT Alexa Show Blouse - Show Shirts from SmartPak Equine
Very Popular in hunter world rather than the normal velvet:
IRH ATH Switch Helmet - ASTM/SEI Certified Helmets from SmartPak Equine
Charles Owen JR8 Junior Helmet - ASTM/SEI Certified Helmets from SmartPak Equine Little more but if your willing to spend that much on a helmet, definitely worth it. Great helmet.
Ariat Heritage Select Field Boot - Field Boots from SmartPak Equine
Sorry for the duplicate post! I've seen green before but black and navy are the most popular.
