Ever ordered a saddle from Stateline?

I know ordering a saddle from an online tack store can be a gamble if it doesn't fit your horse, etc.

I'm curious if anyone here has ever ordered a saddle from Stateline Tack?

Were you pleased/displeased?
Did the saddle live up to expectations or was it a factor 2nd best?

I've never ordered a saddle, but I have ordered several other things.

Service wise, they're always quick and well priced to ship.

As far as the saddle, that depends on the brand itself. Stateline has downed their quality on some tack (like bridles and saddles), although they do sell a couple nice brands still.

Just know your brands well, and figure what size and everything you need. Stateline is pretty good on shipping, so returns aren't a problem with them.

I got my bates through stateline. I was happy with it. If you are concerned you can test ride a saddle from Dover...

Yes. I bought a Bates Caprilli Close Contact with interchangeable gullets. It was fine. I didn't need to return it, so I don't know how that would have turned out.

Thanks guys!

I'd be ordering a western saddle. I'd love to have an English but I've never ridden my horse in English.

Yes I did about 8-10 years ago. I ordered a Circle Y and it came well packed and prompt. There were no scratches on any of the finishes and there were no missing pieces. All of the packing and return papers were in the box. The saddle fit, so I didn't have to send it back. As stated above, know what size your horse requires and research the brands you are interested in. Also make sure you know what the return policy is of any online store before you buy.

Make sure they take returns on the western. I ended up giving my Rocking R to my brother in law because the company didn't take them back. (not stateline)

Dover, SmartPakEquine, and VTO Saddlery have test ride programs. Dover only allows it for certain models, but VTO &SmartPak have the option available on every saddle. Also, Dover's test ride program is for 3 days, where VTO's and SmartPak's are for 5. I personally LOVE SmartPak- they have the greatest return policy ever.

Another boarder ordered a saddle from Stateline- it didn't fit so she returned it, and Stateline told her that it looked like it had been used so they couldn't refund her the full purchase price and charged her a restocking fee. She put the saddle on over a clean towel, it was too narrow and it went back into the box (I know, because I was helping her fit it). Sooo...just a thought.

I love the way SmartPak does their test rides. They send you a brand new saddle, you can put your stirrups and girth on it and use whatever pad you want (or no pad at all) and if you like it and it fits, you keep it and they charge your card, if not, send it back and pick a different one for them to send you.
