Experience with consignment stores?

Did anyone deal with one? Any problems?

I consigned my saddle with the local one. They said they sold my saddle about a month ago, but I still didn't get money and they didn't respond to my email. So should I go there in person or it's normal and I just have to wait? I'm getting slightly PO, because I need those money to pay for my new saddle I just got.

I sold a saddle thru the one in Howard County MD about a year ago.....took forever to get my $$. Since I sort of know the people there, I called them. Turned out they were having $$ issues due to the economy, but they did send me a check...postdated, but at least it didn't bounce.

I would suggest calling them.

I have also (now that I live in Leesburg, va) used the one in Middleburg-they are great, and send ckecks out the middle of every month. I know others say they have had issues, but I have had none.

Signature undergoing edits. Please standby.......

I heard about this one, and was thinking about consigning there, but they are too far from me. Well.... I guess I'll wait...

I have had very good relations with consignment stores in our area. Although they only sold one or two of my items, they were usually good about calling me and sending the money out.

I would call them and if they don't call back show up for a friendly visit.

Sometimes there are designated pay periods for tack that is sold, so first check to see if you are past that date. If you are I wouldn't wait, I would go to the tack shop and ask for details about the payment process. It's your right to the money, there should be no harm in simply asking.

Thank you, folks! They got back to me saying the policy is wait one month after saddle is sold. Which is actually different from the agreement signed by both sides, but that's OK with me.
