Finally, the right saddle

I just paid for it and it will soon be in the mail. I have a hard to fit TWH and just recently learned of the Tennessean gaited tree designed for the wide low withered walkers. It was iffy as the seller was unfamiliar with paypal and it was being shipped from US to Canada. We got it sorted out so now I just have to wait. And now for the wait. If the bars don't fit I'll get a Porta Power and make 'em fit. 15.2hh and needing extra wide. Plow horses are built like that. Even my harness won't go around him. I have to extend the belly band about a foot.

What brand did you get? I've heard it's hard to fit gaited horses at times (not sure why though).

.

Hope it fits Saddlebag, I have heard their Saddles fit the old Foundation style Walkers, which are much wider and heavier on the front end, I have never tried one so, let us know how it fits.

Google National Bridle. The saddle is called the Tennessean. Only the gaited bars have this name. The saddle looks like it's made by Big Horn but Big Horn doesn't make this model, It was pulling hen's teeth to learn the length of the bars. My boy is not only wide but short backed to boot. 21" bars are pushing it.

Cool! Thanks! The reason I asked I remember some posts on my local forum asking for the saddle for gaited. So something to share next time it's brought up.

There is one thing to remember, Gaited Horse like any other Horse use different Trees, some Gaited Horse are narrow and some wide.

The width was what took so long to find. His measurement is classified as extra wide and most are made for the slighter higher withered TWH. If this one doesn't fit I'll be pulling it apart and making it fit. Short of something like a Barfoot treeless, there's nothing left. Saddle was mailed this morning so the countdown begins. In a way I'm anxious for it's arrival about the 5th but that means we're into Sept which means winter ain't too far off. Drat.

Oh I have a Tennessean cordura nylon/leather endurance saddle (gaited) and I absolutely love it! I use it on my broader horses and my Big Horn endurance saddle on the ones with more narrow withers and I would be hard put to tell you which I like best. I can tell you that I like either one of them better than the Tuckers I have had.

From looking at pics, one could easily think BH makes the Tennessean yet it's not on their web site as one of their's.

The follow up to this is that the saddle did Not fit, the front wouldn't even set down on his back. When taking a hard look it's about the same as fqh bars. It's for sale.
