fitting/buying a new saddle....

Im looking for a new saddle for shadow. I don't have much experience (or many extremly knowledgable friends to help) with fitting a saddle but I know the basics I think. I know I want something that fits snuggley all around but doesnt pinch, the saddle I have now pinches his withers and when im done riding, he develops a muscle knot below his withers (we're riding bareback for the time being!)

Sooo now that im getting serious about a saddle I've been looking around. He has a short back (i want a rounded skirt because of this), is rather round and has wide, not non existing, but short withers.

I want a saddle that will be durable, that is ok to get wet (if we go swimming or it rains etc..) and has to be comfortable for both of us. Most of the riding ill be doing is trail riding so I need something that will be well suited for that. So I found this one and was wondering if anyone else has tried one of these and what their opinions were or if you could suggest something else. Im looking to not go above 350$. Thanks :0)

I thought id add a few pics of him. Im not sure if these will be useful but it kinda shows how short backed/wide chested he is. (please ignore our dorkiness, I was so giddy, this was taken on my first ride with him when I first bought him lol)

Me and you are in the SAME boat right now. Haha
Im looking for a new saddle, and my horse has no withers to speak of, and a rather short back.

The abetta saddles are really nice. In my opinion.
They do run a little smaller around the withers though. But they last a long time.
And they are comfy!

The one im looking to get is...

Its a 'wide' QHB. So it will def. Fit my horse.

I've also heard nothing but good about that website.
So if you get it off there, your guaranteed to get what you ordered.

And if your going to get leather, STAY AWAY from anything made in India.
They die the leather so it will look 'nice' until it all rubs off on your pants, and your saddle is not colored anymore.

Its better to go with synthetic then cheap leather!

Don't know if I helped at all! But hope I did. =)

Thanks, that's along the same line of what I was looking at, with the wide quarter horse bars. Just wish I could find one used! Haha what ever it takes I suppose and thanks for the pointers on the leather, I would only buy a leather saddle that was used anyways, all the new saddles just seem so fake and cardboardish lol. Well good luck, hope you find something that fits your horse!
