Flex trees and QHs

I have this old flex tree saddle that I would like to ride my QH in. When I went out to get a saddle for the QH, I wound up with a "very firm" flex tree saddle that she seems to be fine in (I've been riding with the "firm" flex tree for two months).

What exactly is a "firm" flex tree and how does it differ from my old saddle? Are there any cons to using a flex tree that may not be so firm (?) on a QH?
