Fly Masks/Turnout Sheets/Fly Sheets...HELP!!

Mmk...so obviously fly season is around(for us USA residents it is anyways. :P), and I am tired of my precious baby getting eaten up my ginormous horse flies and those pesky little flies. I was going through our tack room the other day, and we have two fly masks, and one of them matched my color scheme for Trigger.

That got me inspired to look at the other fly protectant horse wear on the internet, and I am QUITE confused. I know that I won't have to be buying a fly mask, but this other stuff is MAJOR confusing.

I have no idea which brands are off brands, which are good, which are cheap, and should I go ahead and buy the neck thing, fly sheet, and put the fly mask on Trigger even though he is still a youngter? Or should I just stick with the fly mask/neck wear for the time being?

And by youngster...I mean green broke and five. Lol

A 5 year old wearing a fly mask if perfectly fine. My 5 year old wears one everyday. Unless Trigger is having a fly allergic reaction to the bites, you probably don't need to completely cover his body. To keep the annoyance down in my guys, I put them in fly masks (I like the kind with the ears) and in fly sheets. I like sheets that have the belly band not the surcingles. (My tb got caught up in the surcingle once when it was too loose and really cut himself up panicking, thank you ex-stable manager.)

Its not so much the brand that matters as the quality. Look for fly masks that have soft material where it touches the horse's face or you will get rubs. I personally love Professionals Choice flymasks. My horse has been wearing the same one forever. For a fly sheet, I really like this one:

Its not too pricey and its not hard to the touch. Just make sure you measure your horse correctly so you don't get rubs :)

I have the fly mask with the ears already, but I do like the look of that fly sheet!
