FLY Sheets

Its that time of year, when I go shopping for fly sheets. I always shop out of season.
My mare isnt rough on them per see, but she rips the front off most sheets. She's a paint, typical QH build. She needs alot of UV protection, she is mostly white (she also gets sun screen sprayed on). I prefer the pvc mesh. I have a baker which lasted from may to july, until she tore the front off it. (Just webbing with reinforced holes.) I think I can get that fixed as a spare.

Anyone have any suggestions for durable fly sheets??

Bakers have done me well through the years....sorry im not much help. The only fly sheets I have are bakers. I've seen these weird fly masks that cover the whole face down to the tip of the nose. The one I saw had a design of a pair of sunglasses on it. That kept my friends paint from getting far as the face goes

I love those masks. But my horse goes out 24/7 so I'm not sure if they'll hold up. I guess its worth a try. I usually slather her nose w/ desitin and sunblock to block out the sun, it last longer then sunblock alone.

I love bakers as well. I was so psyched when they came out with an actual turnout blanket a few years ago. Maybe I can get the blanket lady I use to modify the front so it holds up better.

A few years ago I got the Rambo Protector Fly Sheet. It has held up remarkably well even though my horse has some nippy pasture buddies. I love the color and how easy it is to clean. However, I've heard that they changed the material just last year and it does not hold up whatsoever. Since they changed the material I am going to suggest going with the Baker as well.

I don't believe rambo doesnt makes leg straps on their blankets.

Alot of the makers are going to that soft mesh. I had a wrangler blue flysheet years ago that held up great. I can't find them anywere anymore!

OMG! You HAVE to get a Kool Coat. They keep the horse clean, my mare wasn't sweating in 90+ degree weather, and had leg straps and belly straps and front straps. It has great reveiws. I think it would work. Mine got one small tear on the tail flap, but that was after it was used for 5 months, with rolling on gravel a lot, going through the wash, and all that. That was one for my pony, and I'm buying another one for my big horse because I sold my pony. Here is the link:

I have one. It didnt fit at all. It was very poor quality IMO. The front stretched out and it was cut way too deep/long. She was wearing it like a bib in a day. I try to stay away from unless its for dewormers. Becasue their stuff is cheep (inexpensive and usually bad quality.)

Really? I LOVE Everything we have bought has been great quality, except this cheap halter we bought as an emergency halter. My kool coat didn't rip or anything except that samll tear on the tail flap. has a great return policy. If you don't like it, send it back and they'll refund you.

^^ not from what I've read. They only take unworn/ used items for return and nothing on sale. I believe the only items I purchased were on sale, everything always seems to be a marked down item.

I check return policies ahead of time because I've gotten alot of poor quality stuff from different places. Dover saddlery actually has a great return policy.

Read the reveiws on the sheet. Good luck!
