Talking Getting your butt fitted??

Im looking at new saddle options but how do I know if my butt will fit? Im probably going to order a saddle online so no test rides for me. I dont really want to order something and then it not fit and have to re-sell. Also, I plan on ordering a new butt in size small work off those extra ding-dongs, if you catch my drift
So should I go for a smaller size saddle? And of course I cant remember for the life of me what my trainers saddle seat size was. Oh duh it would help if you knew what kind of saddle! Im first going to get an AP then save up for my dream Dressage saddle. Any suggestions?

I can't really tell you how to measure your butt, but I can give you some tips!

If you can, try sittin in saddles with different seat sizes (that you know the size of!) and see which one you can fit a closed fist behind your butt in.

I would reccomend getting a saddle that fits you right now, rather than trying to find one that will fit your future bum. Unless your seat size changes drastically, you'll just have a little extra room in the saddle seat, which is almost never a bad thing!

I dont really have the option to sit in different saddles. Im not training atm and the barn that I work at well no one is really ridding so I cant ask people to sit in their saddles :/

But I will get a seat that fits me now rather then a smaller one knowing ill downsize me bum <

Do you have a Saddle Maker/Fitter in and around your area? If so, contact them and have them come out and help you.

The Saddler/Fitter in my area will come out with a van of saddles, and his tools to help find a saddle that works for both you and your horse.

Can be pricey, but well worth it to find that "perfect" saddle for the both of you, and to be sure what saddle you need and size and model - so that when you do order your saddle online, you know it is the right one and you wont have to return it.

oh wow I had no idea they do that! That would be awesome. Ive got no clue if their are any in my area probly a couple hour drive for one to come down.

Has anyone tried the dover test rides? I thought about that option but wasnt to sure. Also those saddles are a little more money then Id want to dish out for an AP.

I think Stormy has done the test ride, but I have not.

I've only had experiences with a Saddler coming to my barn - but you do whatever works for you hon!

Oh, and it is not only your butt size per se, it is the length of your femur
