So my lovely, faithful, old Stubben is not going to continue working out well as my primary saddle for eventing. Though it has a nice deep secure forward seat from xc and sj, it really makes it difficult for me to sit correctly during dressage. It feels like I'm always fighting position in it when I drop my stirrups. I've taken to schooling dressage bareback. At this point we are only working BN, but I'd really like to start moving up. So schooling bareback won't always work... especially when I go to a trainers.
I'm trying to decide if I should get an all purpose or eventing saddle and trade my stubben in... or do I keep my stubben and just go for a dressage saddle. I currently have 600 tops for a dressage saddle, which leaves me with used saddles, and I need long flaps. However, I could trade my Stubben in, (been offered 400-600 at several tack shops) and combine that for a decent all purpose/eventing saddle.
No matter what I need a saddle with an adjustable tree, currently we're a MW, but I think once fully fit and using his shoulders/back correctly we will need a Wide.
So given the info.. do I trade my Stubben (which I am obviously partial to) in or just try to find used?
