In other ways, you would need to work on learning how to keep him light and responsive to a bit.
I rode a few times in a myler like that one and I did not like it very much. But, usually, one can adjust and getting a horse to not brace against you has more to do with having good hands than having a good bit.

Not opposed to it. Just don't want to use it myself because it's not legal for dressage and also I know it is my hands too. But at the same time, I just want to change it.

That bit feels like I'm riding her in a halter sometimes. Takes a lot of work to have her pay a little more attention.
