I've been looking for a saddle for quite some time, and was always attracted to black saddles. I found plenty of the cheap ones and was planning on paying $300 for a new saddle off saddleonline.com. After finding a black saddle two days ago for $120 on craigslist I posted it on here and was recommended by at least 20 people to buy a name brand saddle and was recommended Circle Y or Big Horn. So I put both into craigslist to see what came up. Well the only thing that caught my eye was a $1500 Circle Y and a $145 Big Horn. Sorry, but I'm not rich, I'd rather give my horses food and ride bareback for now than pay $1500 for a saddle. The $145 saddle didn't have pictures but had a phone number so I gave the lady a call. She described it to me, but I had to drive 2 hours to see it without a picutre . Well I ended up making the trip anyways and found it to be worth it. It's a 16" Bighorn western cutting saddle. I cleaned it up some last night, and started putting leather treatment on it. It soaks each layer of leather treatment up in appx. 2 seconds so I'm still layering it on to get some shine back. The only problems with the saddle is some of the silver is missing, the lady called them conchos, but I'm not sure what they are. I may replace them, may not, it's only a trail saddle for me. But I think I got a pretty good deal and very happy to have a saddle finally, and so glad people talked me out of a cheaply made saddle.
