Hackamore English vs Western?

I was reading thread history on bitless bridles and followed two hackamore links. Both web links identified the hackamore as an "English Hackamore".

I'm sorry to show my newness to all this, but, is there really a difference between English and Western hackamores?

If there is, is there a reason for the differences?

Or is this a manufacturer and retailer just catering to a specific demographic by focusing on a riding style?

Thank you.

PostScript: I am looking at a few websites.... it appears that the English style hackamores are more "gentle" looking. Soft leather nose bands. Adjustable chin straps. Why the difference?
