Halters and leads

So I was wondering what you thought about having a leather halter and just a plain cotton lead? I kinda want a leather lead but I don't like the feel of them.... Thoughts?

In regards to.............? If it is just for home/barn use, why not (we do) - but for show, no.

Just for general barn use.

I love cotton leads. Leather requires more care and is more expensive.

Cotton you can keep a good grip on it wet or dry and they are cheap

Why wouldn't it be ok? That's what we use. At shows we use leather leads to take the horses to the ring but back at the stalls we still use cotton or nylon ones, just like at home.

I'm just asking what people opinions are about them because the leather ones look nicer

I think it's mainly a matter of your personal preference. I don't really like the look of the leather leads I've seen. I have a nice leather halter with nameplate that I use at shows, but I just put a black cotton lead on it.

ETA- I also just show at local shows and I don't show in hand, so that might make a difference
