HDR Luxembourg & Rivella Saddles?

I am looking into purchasing an HDR Luxembourg or an HDR Rivella Show jumping covered flap saddle. I rode in my friends HDR pro QH saddle and LOVED it but I want a full calfskin/covered saddle. Any reviews good or bad on them would be great Thanks

I have a friend with an HDR Rivella. It's a pretty nice saddle from what I can tell, and she likes it. I'm fond of the higher end HDRs, though from what I have heard the newer ones are much more cruddy than older ones.

I personally wouldn't buy an HDR, just because any of their leather goods I've dealt with just didn't seem/feel like it was that good of leather. I know my saddle fitter doesn't like them either, and not just for their leather, but she does deal exclusively in high end saddles so that could be part of it.

Which HDR lines have you interacted with? I think that the Rivella is one of their top lines, while the Advantage is pretty cruddy...

I sat in their Rivella jump saddle when I was saddle shopping. It could be that since my budget was significant it just didn't feel as nice as the other saddles I tried (County, Antares, CWD, etc). I honestly didn't even want to try any HDR's but the lady at the tack store insisted so I humored her.

I would go with a Toulouse over an HDR for the same price point. I looked at the Luxs before I bought my Toulouse and just didn't like the leather.

yeah the rivella is one of the higher end models of HDR. I have ridden in 3 HDR's and loved them all. They put my leg in a great spot. I was riding in a few clients CWDs but there is no way I can affored one..even a used one. I am not a toulouse fan. I had a client who took one on trial and the leather was like plastic..it just looked/felt horrible.
This is the saddle im looking at:

As long as it puts you in the right position, and nothing about it affects your riding in a negative way, go for it! I would, if possible, test ride that exact saddle you want to buy to make sure its the one. Good luck saddle shopping!!!!

I sat in a Rivella but ended up going with an HDR pro close contact because I felt more comfortable it and liked the more traditional look. But the Rivella was nice and I saw nothing that would really keep me from doing an effective job and it was also comfortable and looked very nice and modern.
