Talking Headstalls and Halters - Brand Review?

Hello forum members!!

I am looking into getting a show halter and bridle. I have been looking around and have found some pretty good prices on some good brands. I was just wondering what others thought about what I found. I am currently hung between a Cricle Y/Dale Chavez/Congress Leather two ear headstalls. They all have tons of silver (there are two Circle Y's - one flat ear, one ferruled ear) and all under $190. Used. A local tack shop is willing to give me a discount on a Tex Tan show bridle, full silver, brand new.

I am also looking at a Congress Leather/Circle Y show halter - full silver. The Congress is new, the Circle Y is used. They both come with a lead, and are under $190.

I have done some minor looking around and found that these are reliable American brands, that if cared for well, can last a long time! But I'd like to hear what all of you think!!

Should I go with the used bridles? Or should I get a new one? Let me know what you think!

Can't help with brands as such, but the names you mention are I think good choices.

My personal choice would to be to invest your money in great quality used items, rather than lesser quality new, I don't think you can beat the look of well cared for good used stuff, most leather just gets better as it ages and breaks in a little

I always heard that Tex Tan was a top brand - but I do agree that a used bridle will be better broken in and probably be more comfortable for the horse...
