It's a nice looking helmet, but I don't need it. I oogled it and oggled it - but I'm happy with my IRH and my Tipperary Sportage.

For winter riding, you can get these toque's that *wait.......most American's don't know what I mean when I say Toque....* a thin snow cap that you can put on your head and it covers your ears, then you can put your helmet on ontop of that, very ingenious I must say.

I just have a junky $30 troxel, but it does the job... it's not velvet.

Haha I have a junky troxel as well. I can't make myself pay so much for a nicer helmet, but boy do I want one.

While we're on the helmet topic, who here actually gets a new helmet after a fall? I've fallen on my plastic one a couple times but I haven't quite gotten around to getting a new one... probably not a smart idea.

I don't think I would get a new one unless it was a major fall or directly on the helmet. I took a bit of martial arts and we were taught how to land during a fall, but Im not sure how that would work coming off a horse.

I love my Tipperary. It was the only one that fit my head, since apperently I have an oval head. Yeah, great. Crooked chest, wacked eyes, oval head. There is nothing normal about me. Ugh.

But no way would I spend $500 on a helmet unless it was the only one around. Even then I might chance it with a bike helmet, if that was the only choice.

I have a junky Troxel Spirit as well. It fits my head and doesn't cost me an arm and a leg.

Last month, my Paint slam dunked me and grazed the top of my head with his hoof. Some people told me to replace the helmet and some said as long as the inner foam wasn't damaged it would be alright.

I checked it over really well and it is fine. Now that I can finally get up and ride again, I used it when I did the other day.

BTW, I too am in MI.
