HELP!!! Courbette vs Bates - what is your opinion?

Hey all, thanks to the strength of the Aussie dollar currently, I am thinking of dipping into my fast dwindling Aussie account to buy a jumping saddle here in the States.

I have two used saddles currently on loan to try out on my horse: A Bates Caprilli Close contact (retails $1349) here is a piccie so you know which model I am talking about:

The other saddle is a Courbette close contact (retails about $1600), piccie:

Both are unmounted but in excellent condition, the Courbette is two years older. Asking price for the Bates is $1100 (ridiculous since it is used, I am offering $750) and the Courbette is asking $900 (I will offer $700)

My question is - which is a better saddle in your much valued opinion? I love riding in Bates saddles and so am biased towards them. The Caprilli does have the CAIR gullet system which is a bonus. Obviously it will also depend on which saddle fits my horse the best however I would like general opinions on both models as I do not have any experiene with Courbettes so if anyone owns one and loves/hates it, please post and tell me your experience! I have both saddles till Monday so post post post away!!

Thanks in advance

I have never used either but just from looking at them the Courbette looks like a better design...

Thanks! I like the look of the Coubette and and how forwards the knee flaps are but having never ridden in one or had any experience with them whatsoever it is helpful to have others opinions. I forgot to mention, it is the Courbette Galant in case anyone has one had one/ridden in one?

Is it possible you can ride in them both before you purchase one? With saddles of great quality like that, it comes down to individual preferance.

I die to hear which one was more comfortable. I never tried Courbette, but I've ridden in Bates and found it to be comfortable.
