I want to take it off but then dried glue will be left on the leather... Did you get the saddle for free? If so I would take it to a tack shop or tack repair shop. They could probably tell you if it could be safely taken off or get a professional tack repair person to take it off.

I agree. Get a professional to take a look - f it's been fixed with rubber solution glue you might be lucky.

BUT I doubt any repairer will want to risk removing the cushion in case they rip the seat, which is quite likely if it's been fixed with a spirit glue. Replacing the seat of an older used saddle generally costs far more than the saddle's worth, unfortunately :(

Goo Gone will ruin leather, so it's not safe to use on that saddle.

I'd like to see a picture of it. If it's a garbage saddle, you won't want to use it on a horse anyway.

Try your hair dryer and see if it will soften the glue enough that you can begin easing the pad off.

Do you know the make? If someone glued a cushion onto the seat of a Passier, Collegiate, Albion, Black Country, Stubben, etc., they need to be drawn and quartered!

The name should be on a small metal plate at the front of the saddle under the flap on the near side. If it's missing there should be two small nail holes.
