Homemade Gear: Halters, Fly Masks, Fly Hats... etc

Ok... I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get patterns for Fly masks, Fly hats (or whatever they're called), Halters (rope or normal... don't really care, and maybe a few other things.

If none of you know where I could get patterns... could you guys tell me what kind of materials I would need to make fly masks? Halters... I know where to get everything. Same with the fly hats. But I have no idea what Fly masks are made out of... and/or how to make 'em. Any ideas?

I'm wanting to make a couple for a few of the horses at the barn. The owners would be grateful I know, since they can't really find fly masks and stuff around here. Halters, fly hats, and so on... you can... for good prices too... but fly masks are almost impossible. And plus... it'd be nice to have something to do besides sit on the computer all day... :P

There's a book you can get called 'make your own horse clothing' but it might be a little hard to find. Rope halters are easy, just go to a local store and copy the knots. That's what I did.
I'm not sure what to use for fly masks, but if it's mesh you're looking for try the hardware, they usually have some.
Answer's a bit vague but I hope it helps!! =]
