Horse Boots

Hi! I've just started to really get into jumping and eventing. My horse has been jumping for a bit and I haven't used protective boots because i'm to broke and we used to just kinda go about, not really working. Now i'm beginning to work him more and would like to protect/support his legs. Here is the real situation, i'm jumping him so should I get open front boots or enclosed galloping boots for when our eventing takes to the shows (this summer is our first event!) Any advice?
