How long has Wintec had interchangable gullets?

I bought a used Wintec English saddle (very basic, still trying to figure out the model) this weekend for my 9 year old at a used tack sale. The saddle is in very good shape, and is very temporary because she grows so fast. I want to know how long the Wintec saddles have had the interchangable gullets?

Before we went I had the shape of the horse's shoulders/withers traced onto tag board so I could test the saddles, and this one was almost the exact same angle so that's good, but I can't really tell if this is one that can change gullets. It's a nice feature, and I'm wondering if we lucked out.

For irons and leather, girth, saddle, a pad and a brand new English bridle, we spent $125. I think I did pretty good as far as my bargain shopping goes, and for a saddle that might last my growing daughter 2 years, I didn't want to spend much more.

Wintecs have had interchangeable gullets for the last 10 years or so. If the saddle you bought is newer than that, yours probably has the gullet system. I have it in my 2000 AP, and have never used it.

Sweet! I'll have to look at the saddle more closely. Have they changed much in the last 10 years?

Not too much. They're more streamlined now, and they offer the CAIR system as well as the wool flocking, but there haven't been any major changes for about 20 years.

The material used to make the saddles is better now. I had an old Wintec that was brown fabric with plastic inserts in the leg flaps. I sold it about 5 years ago, and from what I've heard, it's still going strong as a schooling saddle.

I remember them in 1999. I bought a Wintec 2000 AP in either 1999 or 1998 that had the changeable gullets.

The Wintec 250 AP didn't have changeable gullets until the last few years. It came in just Medium or Wide widths.

Thanks so much. I think I might have gotten a AP 250 but I'm not sure yet. It fit my daughter, and the horse's tracing, and was in good shape. I am still trying to do some research on it. The underside of the saddle is spotless, and the top has some barn dust, but otherwise doesn't look like it's been used much at all.
