How much is this saddle worth?

I posted a thread a few days ago about a Collegiate saddle that I was thinking about buying. Anyways, I just went ahead and outright bought it, with hopes that it would fit my gelding, but I probably wont have a chance to try it on him for another 2 weeks or so(he's in training about a 3.5 hour drive away from me)

Specs:

-It's an older style Collegiate(not exactly sure which one or year, I'll have to check when I actually pick up the saddle next week)
- 17" seat
- Medium tree

Anyways, just incase it doesn't fit my horse, I was going to clean it up, and then resell it, but I don't know how much to sell it for.

The girl bought it used last year for $500(the original owner just wanted it gone because she was getting out of horses). It was restuffed last year, and ridden in 12 times, IF that. Now the girl that I'm buying it from, the mare she originally bought it for died about 6-7 months ago, and it doesn't fit her other horses so she just wants it gone, and is selling it at a pretty low price($300).

If the saddle doesn't fit my gelding, I would sell it with leathers, irons, girth, and possibly a saddle pad. Anyways, how much do you think the saddle is worth? Like...what is the highest possible price I could get for it(so that I do have room to drop the price, but still be able to come out with enough money to buy myself a nice saddle that would fit)

Your best bet is looking at eBay and some used saddle sites and comparing models, once you find out what model it is.

The problem with Collegiates is that new, they run from $700-$1500. So, they don't have the resale of a Pessoa or Stubben, etc. I would say that you'll probably get $300 to $400 for it. If she did pay $500 for it, well, she overpaid. (Sorry, I don't mean that to be snotty. I just got through looking for a used Crosby/Collegiate plain flap myself and spent hours online looking at prices.)

As for the stirrups, girth, pad, leathers ... that's your call, but it may end up being that you put more money into it than you'll be getting back.

Plain flap w/no knee roll CC saddles are not in style and have not been for quite some time. I know of consigment shops that won't take a plain flap CC in for trade or for consignment because they are so hard to sell. I have seen Crosby's (much better brand) in that same style and condition go for $300-500 (no fittings). I would price the package at $300/obo and hope for the best. Clean and condition it very thoroughly, and take pictures outside in natural light.

I agree, $500 is way too much, even if the saddle looked like it had never been ridden in! I sold my friend's Lynn Palm Crosby CC in almost new condition for $800, three years ago and it took a good 7 months to sell...
