im a halter addict, ill admit it. i buy way too many of them, we have about 10 extra ones for just one of our horses lol. plus we go through so many with the foals growing up. and my mother never wants to listen about buying the breakaway halters, she kept buying them and they kept breaking them! but i love pretty colors and designs, im always looking on ebay and stuff.

I've had my mare for seven, almost eight year now 9 (I think) and I've only been through three halters... but not because the halters got worn out.

Her first halter was a deep red halter. I used it up until roughly... two years ago. My mare broke it many times and each time it was easily fixable. I gave that halter to my uncle when he got his horse.

Her second halter was a navy blue, heavy duty one that I used on her for about a year. I only changed it because I decided that I was going to start color coding her tack and stuff, so she went to her bright red halter that she wears now.

My three year old gelding has gone through...four halters, but they were out of necessity more than anything, as his first halter was a weanling halter... (I still have it, too).

After the weanling halter, he went on to a red yearling halter... then a navy blue 'grown up' halter...

Now he's in his 'color coded' green halter.

~

I've gone through more leads and bridles than I have halters... lol.

I honestly don't really 'go through' halters. My horse is at the moment pasture boarded 24/7 and is turned out without a halter, as he is a breeze to catch. So basically, I only use the halters when I'm brushing him and tacking him up.

Although I have 11 halters =P I just love them.

Same here (minuse the breaking of lead ropes) although I used the halter for my other horse before we sold her for a good 4 years so the halter is about 10yrs old and it's still going strong. We've won some new halters but I have yet to use them

I keep my halters out of the sun when they aren't on my horses and even when they're on my horses, we're usually in the shade so they live very very long happy lives =P I haven't had to replace one yet unless it broke in an accident.
