How Tall is the Fence?

My wife and I are planning to build a wooden plank fence down one side of our horse pen, next to the road (our drive .. not a highway). How high is yours? Our horses are not very tall, 15 hands and under. The Internet sites recommend 5 feet, but that sounds a little high. I was thinking of 4 or at the most 4 1/2.

Ours is 4' and has held our horses for many years. I think in some states if you keep stallions it has to be higher. Check with your insurer or local ag agent to be sure.

Mine is 5 ft I believe and my 2.5 years old cleared it first week I moved them when they were playing.
