Question I Found The Weirdest Looking Saddle Pad

Anybody ever seen anything like this?

It has velcro on the backside to attach to the fleece of your western saddle. Two separate pads keep pressure off of the spine.

What do you think of these? Do they seem safe? It looks like the velcro could just slip, and there goes your pad. Getting the pad attached evenly to both sides of the saddle might be a chore as well.

I found them here (they are super expensive, regardless of the lack of material used to create them!):

I would be much more concerned about the damage that the velcro would do the the fleece of your saddle. I can only imagine how often you would have to have your saddle re-fleeced if you change saddle pads for washing about once a week like I do. The velcro would tear it up something horrible.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

I just looked them up, and it says they slip over the panels like socks. If that's the case, no velcro. Sounds good in theory, but I'd love the hear the opinion of a professional saddle fitter on the subject. I would think, if they slip over the panels and once you have the saddle cinched down, they wouldn't be able to go anywhere.

I believe those are booties for orthoflex saddles. I think the panels on the saddel are seperate, so the booties slip over them. I have no idea how you might use them on a traditional saddle??
You can see in this pic what I am talking about with the seperate panels.

Are you sure the velcro wouldn't rip parts of the fleece off?

I wouldn't velcro them to the fleece! You may tear up parts of the fleece! If it slips on like others are saying, then that sounds slick and probably cooler for the horse too.
