I need a good saddle for $600 or less

I can only spend about $600 on a new saddle, I need to start riding Western (I usually ride Aussie). As you might have read in my previous post I found a saddle that fits my horses funky back, but its synthetic and I'm not 100% sold on non leather yet. What are some good brands that I can find a decent used saddle in my price range?

I'd just see what's availabe on the classified sites before narrowing it down to specific brands yet. You ought to be able to get something pretty decent for that price.

I got my m.toulouse with the genesis system for $600, you CAN find a nice one for a good price! I basically stole it from her :)

The well-known saying “chestnut mare, beware!” is not completely without foundation. Some go further and add “chestnut Thoroughbred mare, beware!”

If I recall , you need a medium gaited tree.
Not bunches of lower priced allleather saddles out there with gaited trees. Dakota walking horse saddle is about the best bang for the buck. Keep an eyo on horse saddle shop dot com used saddles.

Yes, she's not a gaited horse, but her back is shaped super funny. She has super long high withers, then a super short back, so I need a super high medium tree, with really curved bars, and rigging that will hold the saddle as close to the withers as possible so I'm not sitting halfway to her butt lol. Sorry if that doesnt make sense, my saddle fitter explains it better then me.

Its really hard to find a saddle that fits without getting it costum made, and finding one in my price range is almost impossible.

well then that big horn you mentioned earlier definitely wont work. It is too long, You need a really short rounded back saddle.

Sounds like she's hard to fit...we have some gaited saddles you may want to look at within your price range though.

I get nervous buying saddles without a well known reputable name brand. I've been told that a lot of off brand saddles are made with defects in the trees and such and can be uneven or break easy.

I guess I'm asking how do I know I'm buying a good saddle when buying one online and never seeing it?

Her back must not be as short as I thought, because I'm trying out the saddle and it fits perfect. It also fits me really well even though its a 16" seat and I'm tiny. I'm just not sold on the synthetic I guess.

post pics please, can you measure the saddle front to back ? Not the seat but the whole saddle? I am looking at one for a friend for her young walker. But he seems short backed to me as well .
