Legacy Sport Boot vs. SMBs ?

Just curious what everyone would like to say, comparing the two, why you would use one over the other, etc.

I've been using Legacy boots a lot actually, the legacy with my bell boots for gaming. My mare stops HARD in these. She doesn't like SMBs. Not sure why she doesn't but she never really sat down into her stops with any other boots before, but after a couple tries with those puppies she just slid a new plate into the earth's crust.

Of course I'm not going to go off the hanger and say legacy boots are 100% better in every possible way, but I'd like to know what everyone thinks. I do have a couple sets of SMBs as well, never really paid attention to which one I was using until I learned Selena loved them so much.

So just to be clear we're referring to any make and model of the SMBs too. Opinion/Debate time!

I actually don't like the Legacy boots or Classic Equine's bell boots...They tear easy and the velcro doesn't last long..They also let a ton of sand in and don't quite fit my horse's leg right. IMO, they are cheaper than the professional's Choice boots for a reason..you get what you pay for.

I wear the Professional's Choice Elite boots and the new VenTech Elites. Have for years and I've never had a problem with them. They don't let a lot of sand in and they conform to my horse's leg better than any other boot I've tried. I've had Hickory's pink pair for six years now and they still wear good and nothing is wrong with them. I don't ride without them at all...Even on trail rides.

As far as bell boots..Justin has the best bell boots to me. I have two pair and they have lasted forever. There is a rough patch on the back so when/if the horse hits it it just slides off..I've destroyed many pairs of the Professional's Choice and Classic Equine bell boots..

Really DrumRunner? O.O I've had my purple legacy boots for a couple years now and the velcroe is still really strong. Haven't noticed too much dirt getting in them either....

However I can't speak for the bell boots, I've always just used my classic equine ones that my trainer bought me for christmas. Never really shopped around, but I might now.

I agree.

SMB has several style choices for the different legs. I do like that.

Yep, my sister bought a pair of purple and a pair of zebra Legacy and has issues with both pair..They turn on her horses leg, don't fit right, and let a ton of dirt in that packs on her horse's leg.

Like mls said, Pro choice has a lot more options and sizes..They are specifically made to conform to the horse's front and hind legs..Where Legacy boots are just one size fits all..Pro Choice comes in different patterns, sizes, front and hind fit, and different boots all together..Like the original SMB's, the SMB IIs, SMB IIIs, the Elites, and now the VenTech Elite boots...They are constantly trying to better their product and looking for new ways to "help" support your horse..that to me says a lot about a company.

Maybe a bit off topic, but I'm sold on Iconoclasts now for providing the most support (and none do much). They do make putting bell boots on a pill, though.

I just bought a pair of Tough 1 Extreme boots and I absolutely love how they fit my horse and they velcro very easily.
