Looking for a cheap thick fleece half pad

I need to find a cheap wool / fleece half pad that looks like this:

I will be cutting it up to make a custom fitted saddle pad for my horse as my saddle fit has instructed. The problem here is that the pad above is borrowed, and I am now have an exceptionally difficult time finding something that is both thick and cheap. I really don't want to cut a $100+ pad in half.

The closest I have found is Dover's 'Half Back Pad', but it's not nearly as substantial and still costs more than $40.

I suppose the other option is to make one myself. The only issue here is that:
1. I don't know how to sew
2. Don't have a sewing machine
3. Don't know where to find a quality fleece that will hold up under this usage.
