As the title says, I'm looking around for a new saddle pad. The one I have right now makes my horse sweat a lot in the summer and I want something that will help cool him off.

I ride bareback or just for short rides (or to swim) in the summer when it is above 90. I can't just quit riding for 2 or 3 months! So I need help looking for something that would help with the heat, hoping to spend under $50. Thanks!

I have a new one on sale now if you are interested. It's definitely under $50.

To be honest I don't know. :) I know it's american-made (the little place is making them and selling in places like Expo where I got it). I had another one from them, but I used it pretty heavily, so its not in "sale" condition. Here are some pics. The reason I got them the pad has a cover on velcros, so instead of washing the whole pad all I had to do it pull the cover off and wash just the cover (either by hand or in machine). Here is couple pics.

The first link is $45 and the bottom two are a little out of your price range, but Jeffers offers free shipping for orders that are over $49. I personally use the Tacky Too pad (bottom link) and it's great. Saddle pads that have the webbed bottoms seem to breathe a little better to me.

I loveee the last one, especially the blue they have, but it'll be my parents paying so I can't go over $50 :(

I've also looked at the first one and I really like it. Have you used it before? I'd like to hear pros and cons about them :)

I have the pink one. It's lasted me a long time and it's so pretty!

It's a pretty good saddle pad. My old instructor uses a bunch of those on her trail horses and it keeps the saddle in place really good. It will get some hairs caught in it, but if you pressure wash it they come out. You just have to be careful and not get the nozzle too close so you won't tear up the bottom of it. Look around at different tack stores, you might be able to find one for cheaper and in different colors.

It does look like wool to me on touch, but I'm not very positive.

amp, I don't know honestly. I used all kinds of pads (from $20 fleece to $100+ SMX), and the horses get pretty sweaty with either pad as weather here in MD is hot too in summer.
