Making your own braided reins

Does anyone have any tips or turorial links for how to braid reins. I want to do the flat braid that goes into a round braid. I am using Paracord to do it. I have a different color on my horse almost every race and it's getting too expensive to buy reins and wither straps. Haha! Any tips would help! They are just for my personal use! :)
