Mikmar bits, what is legal for showing?
I have recently been introduced to a Mikmar bit (the training one with the long shanks and the nose thing) and I am doing some research on it before I invest in it.
My first question is- what is legal to use in the western pleasure show ring? I am under the impression that anything mikmar isn't meant for the show ring, so what would you recommend I switch to for when I'm in the show ring, should I so chose to train in the Mikmar.
Also, what are peoples thoughts on it in general? So far my gelding is pretty quiet in it, but I've only used it twice. The instructional video makes it sound ilke some miracle collection fix, and I'm very skeptical of anything making a claim like that.
Is the bit actually good for inexperienced people? I am personally not super trained or skilled in quiet hands. I guess I would consider myself intermediate in how soft my hands are, and the bit is advertised as good for non-trainers and people learning, but I also wanted to verify that it's not a severe bit that should only be used by the most skilled.
I'm currently borrowing one, and am still deciding if I want to take the plunge and buy one. So I'm also wondering what the going rate is for a used one, and if they are worth the money.
