Moon mouth eggbutt?

Ran accross this bit and thought it was interesting looking. I am curious as to what type of action it has as well as pros or cons.

I use a bit similar for my Arabians who don't care for a single joint snaffle. I think they have fat tongues but like this bit as it gives them more room & doesn't have the nut cracker.
I believe it's called a 1/4 moon snaffle.

Supposedly, the moon joint gives more room for the tongue, so helps with acceptance. It is considered a mild bit.

However, I think they are considered a "ported" bit in dressage and illegal. I will check on it, though.

Nope, evidently not dressage legal.

Thanks for the info! Do you think that this would be good for a younger horse that is very comfortable in a single joint snaffle already?

I don't see why it wouldn't be.

I will always opt for a double jointed snaffle over a single jointed one. Much milder.

I have one for my gelding who is pretty strong, and likes to be scarily strong at the canter. He seems to like it, and is comfortable in it aswell.
